 Lee County Division of Public Safety Emergency Medical Services


Lee County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a Florida-certified ground Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider. Lee County Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) work under the direction of emergency physicians, and provide care on-scene and during transport to the most appropriate medical facility.

Lee County EMS is a division of Lee County Public Safety. Public Safety is a department of The Lee County Board of County Commissioners.

Lee County EMS covers more than 1,000 square miles with 31 ALS ambulances that respond to 911 emergencies, two ALS non-transport units, five interfacility transfer ambulances, and on-call bicycle paramedics. Each ALS ambulance consists minimally of a State-certified Paramedic and EMT. The County also employs two BLS interfacility ambulances staffed with two EMTs.

In FY 2009, Lee County EMS was dispatched to 76,390 emergency calls. Lee County's western border is composed of 75 barrier islands that dot Southwest Florida's Gulf coast.
