EMS Billing
What does it cost for Lee County EMS? For the
average homeowner in Lee County, the annual portion of your ad valorem taxes for
EMS is approximately $30.00 based on a house/condo with an assessed value of
$100,000 with a $25,000 Homestead Exemption.
In addition, a user fee is charged to the patient
who is treated and/or transported by EMS. Instead of assessing the property
owners large taxes per year to cover EMS operating costs, user fees help to
spread out the cost between the taxpayer and the service user (residents and
visitors that utilize the service). Many insurance companies and Medicare may
reimburse for portions of EMS transport and treatment charges.
